Our experience in producing high-performance bimetallic "twin screw" barrels for twin extruders goes back to the beginning of WEXCO CORPORATION: In 1975, when extrusion machine builder WELDING ENGINEERS INC. needed a reliable source for "twin-screw" barrel liners for their large segmented twin screw extruders, they determined that the best source for such key machine components would be one directly under their control, therefore, WEXCO CORPORATION was established that same year to manufacture "twin-screw" barrel liners for use in twin screw extruders. From these humble beginnings as a captive supplier of twin-screw barrel liners, WEXCO grew into a world-class producer of OEM and after-market plasticating barrels, both "single" and "twins".  Starting over 30 years ago with one customer located in Pennsylvania, WEXCO now manufactures high-performance bimetallic plasticating barrels, including, of course, bimetallic twin-screw barrel liners and complete bimetallic twin-screw barrels for most of the segmented and non-segmented twin-screw extruders in use in the world today. For "high-performance" and "high-yield" plastics processing, WEXCO's bimetallic barrels have proven themselves to be vastly superior to nitrided twin-screw barrels. Assessing the current market situation, where there are few competitors in North America that can match or exceed WEXCO's "twin-screw" barrel - making capabilities, and in spite of the fluctuating business conditions in the plastics processing industry, WEXCO made major investments in new custom-designed fixtures for holding twin-screw cylinder liners during the manufacturing process and also added a large Wire EDM for faster machining of carbide-lined twin and single tubes. We bolstered our production staff by hiring several highly skilled production workers, experienced in all manufacturing processes required to make "twins". Although our entire factory is air-conditioned, we built a special, climate-controlled enclosure to house our recently purchased Wire EDM system that will be used to fabricate carbide-lined "twin liners" and "twin barrels". Careful inspection of any "twin" in the "as received" condition is the first order of business before our engineers contemplate actions required to bring the customer's barrel back into peak performance condition. In addition to re-sleeving the bores, we always regrind both faces to be "square" to the bore and we also re-machine and re-sleeve the dowel holes to ensure proper segment alignment. 		After the bores on this "TS-100" twin barrel have been "cleaned up" using our Churchill Planetary Grinder, this barrel is ready to be re-sleeved.
